TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Numerous police officers were sent to area schools after swatting calls threatening violence against students Friday.
Shoreland Elementary in Toledo and Northview Elementary in Findlay were put on lockdown due to the false threats.
According to Washington Local school officials, the school received a report from the Safer Ohio School State Tip Line that prompted the action.
Officers arrived and declared the building ‘all clear.’
“We understand that reports such as these cause concern and want you to know that the safety and well-being of our students are our utmost priority,” WLS public information officer Katie Peters said. “We are grateful for the prompt response from local authorities.”
Findlay Police issued a release stating that ‘an unknown male caller contacted the Veterans Crisis Line advising that he was at the entrance of the school with a rifle.’
Law enforcement arrived and searched the school as well, determining there was no threat.
