The Ross School District has three candidates competing for two board seats in the Nov. 5 election.
In preliminary returns on Tuesday night, Kelly Dwinells had 39%, or 525 votes, followed by Erin Earls at 38%, or 515 votes, and Vinay Patel at 22%, or 298 votes.
Dwinells is an incumbent who was appointed to fill a board vacancy last year. Incumbent Megan Pavelka chose to not seek reelection this year.
Patel is a Fiji-born immigrant who runs a hotel management company. During his campaign, he said that he offered the school board professional experience with technology and construction.
Earls is a member of the Ross School Parent Teacher Organization board and a former board member for the Ross Valley Nursery School. She said she offered an analytical perspective to the school district.
The K-8 school has approximately 380 students.
